Cíle projektu
The objective is to provide public authorities with high-quality and efficient digital tools for:
- Assessing the impact of combined sewer overflows on receiving waters and determining the necessity of implementing specific technical measures to reduce pollution;
- Evaluating the costs of introducing these measures in light of potential benefits for the ecosystem services of the recipients;
- Proposing specific wastewater treatment technologies, with a focus on extensive systems.
The main outputs will be two methodological guidelines:
- The necessity and cost assessment of wastewater treatment technologies for combined sewer overflows;
- The selection of appropriate technologies and their technical specifications.
An integral part of these methodologies will be web applications designed to simplify the decision-making process for public administration. The project focuses on sewer networks in small municipalities near small receiving water bodies, which represent a major issue in the Czech Republic.
The project “Sustainable Tools for Assessing and Mitigating the Impact of Combined Sewer Overflows on Receiving Waters” is co-financed with state support from the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of the Environment under the “Environment for Life” programme.
