He completed his engineering degree in 1977 and earned his PhD in 1981 in Water Technology at the Department of Water and Environmental Technology. Until 1993, he worked at the Institute of Water and Environmental Technology as an assistant professor and research associate. In 1993, he completed his habilitation and was appointed associate professor, and in 2000, he was named professor in Chemistry and Environmental Protection Technology. He has also served as vice-dean of the Faculty of Environmental Protection Technology. His international experience includes academic placements in Belgium (University of Ghent, 1989) and the United Kingdom (University of Leeds, 1993).
His main research and teaching interests focus on:
- Chemical and biological methods for modifying water properties
- Analysis of organic compounds in water and the broader environment
- Energy production and the rational use of alternative energy and heat sources
