I joined VŠCHT after graduating from the Masaryk High School of Chemistry (called Křemencárna), I completed my master's studies at VŠCHT in 2001 at the Institute of Water and Environmental Technology, majoring in Water Technology. I completed my doctoral studies there (in the Applied and Landscape Ecology program) in 2009 by defending my dissertation "Biological degradability of polyethylene glycol derivatives".
I have worked at ÚTVP since 2002 as an assistant professor. Initially, I focused on testing the biodegradability of organic substances (surfactants, drugs, and other xenobiotics); then, my subject of interest expanded to hydrochemistry and water analysis. I am mainly interested in natural and operational drinking water and waste water. Thanks to my involvement in several projects, my main research focus is currently the reduction of wastewater into recipients, the composition of extinguishing water from lithium battery fires, and, last but not least, the optimization of coagulation conditions during the treatment of drinking water. In addition to teaching students of bachelor's and master's programs and supervising their final theses, I like to work in the laboratory. I occasionally work with secondary school students within the SOČ and give lectures in lifelong learning courses. In 2023, I won the Vitriol student award in the category of best teacher for FTOP.
